I  am a middle school Math, Science and Bible teacher- I teach at Beaverdam Christian School , and I still love it.  I have told myself many times that when I get sick of it I'll quit- I certainly not there yet.  I have been teaching at BCS since the fall of 1998.  Before that, I taught at Battle Creek Christian School for 4 years.  My biggest hobby is definitely hunting.  The only thing in Michigan that I do not hunt or apply for is Bear- everything else I hunt.  I guess the only reason I don't hunt Bear is that I don't have a place to do it...

Other interests of mine include motorcycling ( I enjoy working on my bikes), reading (I am a big fan of Fantasy works, such as those by JRR Tolkein and the Dragonlance Series), debate on various issues such as religion, philosophy, ethics, and creation/evolution, and also I enjoy watching some sports, such as Detroit Tigers baseball, the Cubs, and University of Michigan Football.
I am a Christian.  I believe that Jesus is Lord of my life and I try to live a life worthy of that, but I screw up a lot.  Thank goodness for forgiveness.  I attend Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Cutlerville, Michigan, where I have served as a deacon and play guitar in the praise band.

I am married to Jaci, who is a wonderful woman.  She is my best friend and confidant.  We were married on July 9, 1993.  She is a Nurse Practitioner at a Pediatrician's office and has been since February 2000.

Hobbies include, but not limited to:

Hunting (Anything- but deer season is my favorite)  Here is a link to my hunting page.

Playing guitar- I have a Seagull acoustic/electric- I play in church, for school chapels, and I do some recording on my computer for fun.

Motorcycles- I have a few and I have built a couple, including a XS650 Tracker , and a  XS650 Chopper.  I mostly just enjoy working on them- older Jap bikes are great, well designed, simple machines.  I hate to see them parted out- they are great transportation and fun to ride!

Super secret phrase #3:  “Tap out, Tap out!”

Trapping- if you would like to discuss it with me feel free- I enjoy learning new techniques.

Fishing Sam, Tyler, or other students:  Click here for a cool sound!

Downhill skiing

Softball

Camping (usually with fishing)

Biking

Shooting/Gun Collecting ( I like the high power varmint rifles)

Science, also thinking and debating about the aforementioned

I also enjoy the occasional pipe smoke- only once in awhile, usually while fishing or in some outdoor activity. I have carved three pipes, one nice one carved from African Cocobolo wood, which I can call my own. I know. I have too much time on my hands.

Good conversation about anything

a plethora of other things tried, but not kept up with

Musical tastes: Anything (yes that includes rap, rock, techno, and even opera!) I also enjoy the old church hymns (lots of old Christian conservative in me yet) a couple of my favorites are "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Here is the second code phrase. It is "The Bayou men no longer exist as a group."

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died for me. God is great, just, and loving- of that I am sure. You may ask me for "proof" that God even exists, but I cannot explain to you the peace He gives me in my soul. I cannot express the wonderment I see when I look at the inner workings of a cell, or see the farthest reaches of space via the Hubble. I can give you some reasons that I find pretty compelling, but in the end you must choose God. He has already chosen you.

I tend to be conservative in my leanings. I think change for change's sake is wrong, however I welcome change with reason.

I think abortion is murder, not choice.  I'd love the chance to explain to you why I feel that way.

I also consider myself to be a world class outdoorsman. I think I can pretty much survive anywhere with anything, and some day I would like to test that. I enjoy the outdoors and if I am not on here, I can usually be found in the woods hunting, trapping, fishing, or just being there. Ideally I would be either a mountain man in the Wild West, or a trapper trapping the early days of "the new world". Ahh but life without dreams would be boring, eh? Enough prattling.

I know that some have the prating habit of listing their friends on their web page, I will say that everyone is my friend, I have no one that I consider my enemies- even those with whom I strongly disagree.

If you need more feel free to email me anytime.
Here is the really hidden code phrase from one of my favorite movies:  "Who are you?" "I'm Batman".

Some quotes I really like (and they probably tell you something about me):

"Entropy continues it's inexorable march, and yet we fight.  Alloys that
shine, or are strong, or have other favorable properties all share one
characteristic...they exist in a higher energy state than the base elements
from which they are composed.  But, the energy wants to leave these alloys,
and eventually it will, because entropy demands it.  They yearn to shed the
energy that was required to form them, to once again become the oxides and
phosphates and chlorides of the metal ores that they were plucked from.

So my friends we fight, and fight we must, because rust never sleeps."

                                 -William K. Denton, YAM650 listowner

"If God didn't want people to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?"

"Even though an Ostrich hides his head in the sand, the Lion still makes him a meal."

"Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking."

-Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne

Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson.

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"

-Adolf Hitler, 1935.  (Incidentally- I have heard that this quote was not actually made by Hitler, so take it for what it's worth).

Secret messageIf you read this, and the super secret message that follows, you must have a curious mind. Interesting. Email me with the code phrase. I am just curious if there are people out there that check stuff like this out. The code phrase is "The Bayou men get the suckers." There are more secret messages on this page somewhere else- I think there are seven now. Let me know if you find those secret phrases too.
