This is my Maxim, the newest pony in the stable.  I got this bike free from a fine gentleman on my XS list- it sat for 4 years in a pole barn.  I have to admit- I did some cleanup before I took the "before" pictures.  I put on a new seat cover, polished the tank and side covers, and cleaned the carbs.  Otherwise she is the same way she was when I picked her up.  My plan is to clean her up over the winter- she runs fine now after a thorough 2x carb cleaning and inline gas filter.  

      I cleaned her up and painted it silver.  I saw some pics of a silver one, and they looked sharp.  It took some time, but the restoration is now complete with one exception- I am waiting on shipment of some new shocks- then she'll be mint.  After a carb synchronization, she runs better then ever before.  

The RAM mount on the handlebar was added by me- the speedo doesn't work, so I put my GPS on to check speeds at certain RPM's.



Sweet aluminum corrosion, huh?  Note the wear spot above the peg- that's where my pants rubbed the corrosion.  I think the cylinders used to be black?  Cleaned up nice, huh?
