Here is myself and several friends-
from L-R Chad, Chris, Brad, Mike, Myself, and
Ed. My brother Matt is taking the picture. We
had a great day of goose hunting here- 30 geese. I shot 5 geese in three
shots on this day, and of the five, three had bands. The best part
is that it was on my birthday- Spetember 8, 2001! What a great present!
I found a field that the local Canadians were using, I obtained permission,
and we hammered the geese.
Here we are turkey hunting in Battle Creek this fall (2001). My
brother Matt (left) shot a 7 point with his bow, my friend Joel (middle) shot a turkey with his shotgun, and I shot 6 turkeys with
my shotgun (Mossberg 835). In this area you get 2 fall permits per
person- we had decided that whomever gets the shots should take as many
as they can towards our group limit of 10. So, when I saw some run
over a ridge, I snuck up after them and cut loose. The Mossberg 835
is the best turkey gun I ever used. I reload 3 1/2 inch shells, and they pack a wallup. I dropped
2 birds with my second shot. Out hunting together was myself, Matt,
and Joel, along with a couple of other great friends, Jerry and Kevin. It was a great day.

Here is myself and my friend
Kevin in the Spring of 2001. Kevin drew a turkey permit for
the late spring season, and I went down to Battle Creek with him to call
for him on our hunt. We made some crow calls to find birds in the pre-dawn
morning, and we found a few. We moved into the woods to set up, and
we scared a couple out from the tree we were under. So, we set up
where we were and as the sun came up I began calling. After a good
45 minutes, finally a tom responded and obviously came at a run. The tom came from my left (I was set up to the left of Kevin with out decoys
out in front) and circled behind me. Kevin was watching the tom, and
when the tom stood up on a log it saw our decoys. Kevin saw that and
picked that moment to swivel his gun and shoot. It was a beautiful bird with a 10 1/2 inch beard.
Here is another picture of Kevin's turkey
from that morning. It was one of those days that you can thank God
for: great friend, great weather, great creation, and success!
Here are a bunch more pics of me and friends. Some
I'll comment on, some I won't...
Here is our Battle Creek PETA picture.
Lease hunt- the day after Thanksgiving, 2001. Great success.
The lease hunt PETA picture. I call it a PETA
picture because it is meant to inspire any PETA people that graze this website...
Brad's big 8 point from the lease- November 17, 2001
Brad's smaller 8 point from the lease- taken
in the same place as the big one, one week later.
My "throw away" S-10 ZR2 saves Brad's big, bad 1-ton diesel Ford. You
know I had to post this...
A couple of weird turkeys. The birds Ed and Mike shot are strangely
colored as well. It was an easy stalk!
